· Commencing on Afternoon shift, with a view to possibly changing to Day shift in the future.

·  Maintenance projects may require to be completed outside production times, which may include occasional weekend work.

Department Overview:

The Production department is responsible for the cooking, bottling and dispatching of the entire range of products.  It ensures the quality and supply of product is not compromised in any way.


Maintenance undertakes the preventative and scheduled maintenance on all plant & machinery, buildings and environs.  It coordinates external service providers where required and ensures the smooth and safe operation of the production lines.




Summary of key purpose of role:

· Provide immediate maintenance support during production times and fix breakdowns wherever possible to reduce production down times.


Scope of Authority:

·  Provide assistance, support and back up to Maintenance Manager when required and during periods of leave & absence.




Key Result Areas / Accountabilities:

·  Fix breakdowns to production machinery, plant and equipment as soon as possible

· Be immediately contactable and available during production times to ensure problems or downtime is minimised.  Be able to devote full and prompt attention to any quality or efficiency problems identified by the Machine Operators, Production Assistants, Supervisor or the Production Manager.  Be available out of hours if needed

·  Ensure the Production Manager, Machine Operators and Production Assistants are aware of setup, startup, operation, shut down, maintenance, changeover and modification of each plant and machine such that they function within their normal recommended operating parameters

·  Provide assistance in the undertaking of risk assessments, developing safe operating procedures and ensuring plant & equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner which is inline with the manufacturers guidelines

· Responsible to notify the Maintenance manager of any safety issues or un-repairable problems with machinery.  Correctly place maintenance lock out tag on any machines or equipment being worked on. 

·   Undertake identified general repair and maintenance to the buildings and environs

·   Undertake construction, modification and repair to plant, equipment and infrastructure as required which may include undertaking welding activities.

·   Undertaking maintenance projects during production shutdowns

·  Follow all QA and Food safety systems.  Be aware of the impact of machinery problems and changes on CCP’s/QCP’s  & seek clarification if unclear of impact.

·  Ensure emergency evacuation procedures are followed

· Carry out installation of plant & equipment as required

·  Effectively undertake Preventative & Breakdown maintenance of Mechanical & Electrical plant, equipment & infrastructure

·  Ensure all plant and equipment are efficiently maintained in both preventative and reactive situations while carrying out minor installation work as necessary.

·  Efficiently Carry out all daily plant checks and inspections

·  Maintain and manage the OHS safety standards throughout the area under their control, advise maintenance of any preventative or corrective maintenance requirements.

· Follow all QA and HACCP procedures as required by the Beerenberg quality and food safety systems

· Comply with all Beerenberg polices, procedures and work instructions

· Undertake any other duties as requested that are within level of competence

Effective computer skills utilising MS Office & PC based software & accounting systems such as Attaché


A self starter who is highly motivated, team player & willing to foster & encourage improvements


An awareness of Risk Management, Food Safety & OHS requirements


Significant experience within a maintenance or mechanical repair environment.


Be physically fit, be able to lift, bend, stand and twist unrestricted


Previous experience in manufacturing, production, workshop environment where strong diagnostic skills were required


A sound understanding of the food manufacturing process
